Scrumptious night out for singles

Posted 2 years ago

If you?re single and looking for a different kind of night out, how about an Iron Chef cook-off?

Professional chef Kevin Hussynec will be on hand to help teams to create a complete menu of items. Hussynec served food at the Sawridge Inn in the past, and currently is working at Father Mercredi High School.

Nelda Schulte, the co-ordinator of the event said, ?We will have a facilitator for the evening, who will make up the teams. There will either be three groups of four or two groups of six. Each team will probably be responsible for four appetizers, two to three entrees and a couple of desserts. It is a race against the clock, and it will be a lot of fun doing it.?

A Northern Night Out is a group created for singles living in Fort McMurray and is sponsored by Keyano College. The group holds a different event every two months, with the hopes that everyone will have fun, develop friendships and possibly even some romance.

This is the fourth event that the group has organized. They?ve had more people turn out than they had anticipated for each event, with equal numbers of men and women showing up.

?We want to give the people who are single in the community things that they can do. There is a lot of stuff for families, and this is something just for singles. The events have all been successful so far,? said Schulte.

The event will be held at Merc on March 28 and will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $95 each and are available from Schulte by calling 791-8942 or emailing her at: nelda.schulte@keyano.ca.
